On the integration of sports and education, Promote physical and mental health
The Kines Digest welcome New Year’s issue has been published. We wish you all a happy and a healthy 2021!
It is well known that the world’s long-waited and people’s hope the vaccine has been on the market. As the outbreak rebounded, the vaccine became a starting line in the race against the virus. Let’s cheer her on! We have passed a long and difficult battle year of 2020, the 2021 will be the year of vaccination, to return to normal life still needs a long way to go. We will continue to provide this excellent information platform to introduce the latest information in sports, physical activity and health around the world.
In this issue, we are going to talk about the benefits of the integration of sports and education. In fact, from the late 1950s to the early 1960s, the school education in China has been advocating the education policy of students to develop moral, intellectual and physical education an all-around. Under this policy, the school did a good job in the integration of sports and education. However, after the Cultural revolution, and attending competitive competition for Olympic games, gradually take competitive sports as the first standard to measure the level of sports, and the popular sports was far behind. Thus, it results in negative impact on the physical and mental health of young people. Therefore, to develop the combination of sports and education, not only important for the sports community, it is directly related to the growth of a generation of young people, as well as to the country to cultivate excellent successors. It can also bring positive power to the cultural and economic development of society.
I have lived in the United States for more than 30 years and witnessed my son’s healthy growth under the system of sports and education integration in the United States. From national education policies to school planning and implementation, to community events and parent involvement, sports and education are perfectly integrated and maximized.
The mainly manifested in, first, the integration of sports and education is broad, it is no age limit. Not only concentrated in the scope of adolescents and school students, but from toddler to the elderly all have their own sports clubs or organizations. Second, encourage competition sports and natural elimination if you lose, pursue excellence and perfection. The winner of any kind of sport must have both the best score and good character. Students of school winners pursue both good scores and intelligent, adult and elderly winners must be both best score and have contribution. Third, the community-organized events and parent involvement drive cultural and economic development. Under the policies of physical education guidance over the years, many young people learn to work hard, be independent, not afraid of failure, and persevere. Grow into excellent talents. In short, adhere to the development of sports and education integration, it will certainly cultivate more outstanding talents for the country, as well as improve the physical and mental health level.
In this issue, we recommend some good articles on the integration of sports and education. Such as, how to build a healthy lifestyle that combines academic performance with physical activity; how to bring cognitive and mental health to adolescents through intensity training (Detail see pages 8-9); And in the School physical education (K-12) category, provides how integration of sports and physical education is implemented from a number of different perspectives. (Detail see pages 50-55).
In addition to the integration of sports and education, the integration of sports and medicine has always been our active platform. Especially during the outbreak, the virus caused a large number of deaths of chronic disease patients, how to manage chronic diseases has become the scientists’ main concern and research topic. With the growth of the retired population, the elderly physical exercise and the intervention of medicine have become the sports medicine focus. In 2013, the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) made new rules on age groups. youth aged 18 – 44 years old, adults aged 45 – 59 years old, young seniors aged 60-74 years old, seniors aged 75-89 years, and longevity elderly aged over 90 years. The aging period of human beings has been delayed by ten years. This new rule has had a positive impact on people’s mental health and anti-aging. The sports and medicine field expands for another ten years. As we all know the new President of the United States, Joe Biden is 78 years old, he is still full of energy, travels frequently, likes challenging himself. This is the change of the new era, the development of medicine and the combination of sports medicine. As a worker in sports or physical education, we should all open up our scientific research ideas and bravely accept new challenges.
For the health fitness and sports medicine articles, please see pages 21-33. For the sports and health series of the elderly and women, please see pages 44-49. In addition, in the traditional sports category, we selected some integration of sports and Chinese medicine research articles. Such as, how they used Taichi and Qigong movements for the recovery, prevention and treatment of virus patients and how the traditional Chinese sports medicine to benefit from intervention for diabetes and other chronically ill patients, please see page 10 and pages 34-37.
In short, please select your interested research-based articles. We hope our information will lead the direction of your research and contribute to human health.
